PRACTICE OF THREADING:  

    NEW - Effective October 11, 2011, the Board is not regulating threading. The practice of Threading is defined as the removal
    of human hair with a single strand of cotton thread that is wound between the fingers to form a loop so that when the thread is
    brushed along the skin, the loop can be opened and closed by increasing and decreasing the tension on the thread in order  
    to trap and remove hair from its follicles.

    *The Board is not regulating a threader who:

    A. Washes or sanitizes their hands after threading each customer and before threading a new
        customer.

    B. May choose to apply witch hazel or another over-the-counter astringent or powder to soothe
        their customer's hair follicles before and/or after threading.

    C. Uses a new piece of thread for each customer.

    D. Anchors the thread around their neck or between their teeth, or in a similar manner, in order
        to create the necessary tension on the thread.

    E. Use the thread to remove hair from around the eyebrows and from other parts of the face.

    F. Does not use chemicals of any kind, including but not limited to, chemical depilatories, wax,
        or any implements, instruments or tools of any kind to remove hair or to assist in the preparation
        of the skin prior to threading or in the treatment of the skin following threading.
